The Association of Vietnamese Scientists and Experts (AVSE Global) and the Vietnam Institute of Leadership and Public Policy of Ho Chi Minh National Academy of Politics (ViLEAP-HCMA) are pleased to announce the 1st Vietnam Symposium on Leadership and Public Policy (VSLP-2018), which will take place on 30th - 31st October2018 in Hanoi, Vietnam, with a focus on “Policy Innovation and Leadership in the Digital Age”.
The VSLP aims at promoting collaborative research initiatives and experiences between Vietnamese experts and their foreign colleagues in both Vietnamese and international contexts. It will provide broadly a platform for academics, practitioners, researchers and policymakers from various fields to exchange knowledge and evolutions of disciplines related to management, leadership, administration, and governance to promote findings esteem and share the latest work. Participants will find an excellent opportunity for presenting new researches, exchanging information and discussing current issues of leadership and public policy.

Jason D. Shaw is Shaw Foundation Chair in Business, Nanyang Business School, Singapore. Jason was recently Yeung Kin Man Professor in Business Administration, Chair Professor of Management, Head of Department of Management and Marketing, and Director of the Centre for Leadership and Innovation in the Faculty of Business at The Hong Kong Polytechnic University. He is the Editor-in-Chief of Academy of Management Journal. His research has appeared or been accepted for publication in the Academy of Management Journal, Academy of Management Review, Journal of Applied Psychology, Organization Science, Strategic Management Journal, Organizational Behavior and Human Decision Processes, Personnel Psychology, and Journal of Management, among other scientific outlets. He has been invited for visiting scholar positions and other speaking engagements in China, Finland, Austria, Denmark, Norway, England, Germany, Hong Kong, Spain, Israel, Macau, Ghana, Ethiopia, Czech Republic, Ireland, Belgium, Taiwan, Singapore, Australia, Canada, Belgium, Thailand, Switzerland, and the USA. Prior to his appointment at PolyU, he was the Curtis L. Carlson School-wide Professor in the Carlson School of Management at the University of Minnesota, the Clark Material Handling Company Professor at the University of Kentucky, an assistant professor at Drexel University, and an analyst for the Boeing Company. He received his Ph.D. from the University of Arkansas in 1997.

Dr. Moszoro is a professor at George Mason University's Department of Economics and the Interdisciplinary Center for Economic Science, and a faculty affiliate at Cornell University's Program in Infrastructure Policy. Dr. Moszoro served as consultant to the World Bank, UNIDO, and several companies. Previously, in 2005-2006, he was appointed Undersecretary of State and Deputy Minister of Finance of Poland, the youngest ever in that position. He was also Chairman of Bank BGK that specializes in servicing the public finance sector, Chairman of the Export Insurance Policy Committee, and member of more than 10 government committees. In 2009-2011, he was a post-doctoral fellow at Haas School of Business, University of California-Berkeley under Nobel laureate economist Oliver Williamson.

Karina R. Jensen is currently Practice Director at the Centre for Leadership and Effective Organisations and a Professor in Global Innovation and Leadership at NEOMA Business School in France. She is an international management consultant, change facilitator, and educator with 20+ years of experience in launching global business and education initiatives to international markets. Dr. Jensen is the Founder and Managing Director of Global Minds Network, a management consulting and training services firm that provides solutions for facilitating global innovation and multicultural collaboration. Originally from San Francisco, Dr. Jensen is currently based in Paris where she conducts research and consults leaders and teams on leading global innovation, facilitating organizational change, and collaborating with multicultural teams. In addition to her presentations and publications, she has taught courses and delivered workshops for business schools and executive education programs in Asia, Europe, Africa, North America and South America. Her new book entitled Leading Global Innovation from publisher Palgrave Macmillan is based on research with over 200 leaders and 45 multinational firms, including a regional study in Asia (Vietnam, Singapore, China, Japan, South Korea and India). She earned her PhD in International Management from ESCP Europe Business School in France.

Vu Duong is Professor of School of Mechanical & Aerospace Engineering and Director of Air Traffic Management Research Institute of Nanyang Technological University, Singapore. Prior to this assignment, he had been Director and Chair Professor of Systems Science at John von Neumann Institute of Viet Nam National University Ho Chi Minh City. Vu had been Head of Innovative Research then Senior Scientific Advisor at EUROCONTROL (1995-2012), and a member of European Commission’s SESAR JU Scientific Committee (2010 – 2012); Research Scientist at Schlumberger Lab for Computer Science (1990-1995). Vu is a recognized leader in Air Traffic Management research. During his service time with EUROCONTROL he had contributed to the advances of air transportation that included research that have led to Airborne Separation Assistance Systems, Autonomous Aircraft Operations, Super-Sectors and Sector-less Air Traffic Management, Trajectory-based Control, and numerous work on the foundation of Air Traffic Flow Management. He is the co-founder of International Conferences in Air Transportation Research (ICRAT); EUROCONTROL Innovative Research Workshops (now named SESAR Innovation Day); and co-chaired the prestigious US/EUROPE Air Traffic Management R&D Seminars. He has published more than 80 articles in peer-reviewed journals and conferences, and supervised more than 20 Doctoral Theses in Operations Research, Systems and Computer Science applied to Air Traffic Management. He had been member of the editorial board of Air Traffic Control Quarterly, Journal of Aerospace Engineering, and a Guest Editor of Elsevier Transport Research Part C. He has also taught at Ecole Patriques des Hautes Etudes, Telecom-ParisTech, University of Science of Vietnam National University Ho Chi Minh City.

Tojo Thatchenkery (Ph.D. Weatherhead School of Management, Case Western Reserve University) is featured as one of the leading change thinkers in the recently released Palgrave Handbook of Organizational Change Thinkers, 2017. He is professor & director of the Organization Development and Knowledge Management program at George Mason University, Arlington, Virginia, U.S.A. He is also a member of the NTL Institute of Applied Behavioral Science and his research has been funded by agencies such as the United States National Science Foundation and the U.S. Postal Service. Thatchenkery is the author of over a dozen books and one hundred peer reviewed articles. He is one the leading authors in the field of appreciative inquiry and has written three books on the subject. He developed the construct of Appreciative Intelligence®, a key competency for leadership and has used it for the leadership development of hundreds of senior managers around the world. He has also developed a methodology called ASK, Appreciative Sharing of Knowledge, an application of AI to knowledge management and has helped several organizations to enhance their knowledge sharing capabilities. In another book (Making the Invisible Visible) Thatchenkery introduced the concept of quiet leadership as a key driver for innovation in organizations. Dr. Duc Khuong Nguyen holds a MSc and a PhD in Finance from the University of Grenoble Alpes (France) and obtains his HDR (Habilitation for Supervising Doctoral Research) in Management Sciences in June 2009. He also completed the "Leaders in Development" program at Harvard University, John F. Kennedy School of Government, Executive Education (2013). In January 2013, he joined IPAG Business School as Professor of Finance and Deputy Director for Research. Previously, he served as Professor of Finance and Head of the Department of Finance and Information Systems at ISC Paris Business School, as Lecturer at Grenoble Graduate Institute of Business, and as Research and Teaching Assistant at EM Lyon Business School. Dr. Nguyen is also a Non-Resident Research Fellow at the School of Public and Environmental Affairs, Indiana University, a Visiting Professor at Vietnam National University, Hanoi - International School and was a Research Associate at the Department of Finance, Centre d'Economie de la Sorbonne (CES), University Paris 1 Panthéon-Sorbonne (2011-2015). His principal research areas concern emerging markets finance, energy finance, volatility modeling and risk management in international capital markets. Dr. Jean Yves Moisseron (male) is a Research Director at IRD (Institut de Recherche pour le Développement), Visiting Professor at University of Paris 1 Panthéon-Sorbonne and EHESS (School for Advanced Studies in the Social Sciences), and Affiliated Professor at IPAG Business School. His research focuses on the European institutions, the Arab world (Egypt, Lebanon, Morocco, Tunisia) and the Euro-Mediterranean Partnership. He is participating into the Project OTMA (Observatory of the Transformation in the Arab World) and the Project TAWALA (Territorial Analysis of Women Access to Labor) for Morocco.
